The Five Workstreams
The Research Security and Safeguards Initiative (RSSI) advances its goals through five coordinated workstreams. Each workstream focuses on a distinct area of improvement while working collaboratively to strengthen the systems, guidance, and support that enable secure and responsible research across the University of Michigan.
Together, the five workstreams help position the university to meet evolving research expectations while supporting researchers, protecting the research enterprise, and advancing the university’s mission of research excellence.

One Initiative.
Five Coordinated Efforts.
Although each workstream has a distinct focus, their success depends on collaboration. Together, they strengthen the systems and support that enable secure and responsible research while helping the University of Michigan continue advancing world-class discovery.
As RSSI evolves, each workstream will continue developing resources, guidance, and improvements that support the research community and reinforce the university’s commitment to research excellence.
